James Packer is building a AUD $50million super-compound next door to a public toilet which has views into the compound and includes a playground above the only public beach at One and Only Palmilla, San Jose Del Cabo. The compound nestles the exclusive celebrity resort introduced by former fiancé Mariah Carey.
Packer purchased three (3) blocks of land, each around USD$7million and it is expected to cost another $10-15million by the time construction finishes in around 2020. Local residents (mostly US/Canadian ex-pats) are concerned about the size of the mega-property, which is much larger than their surrounding properties. Local Mexicans are also concerned about losing access to the public beach which is used by fisherman and bathers at the only swimmable beach in the area. The commanding toilet block is built up off the beach and has commanding views into Packers new compound.
